How can a massage help treat cellulite?
Cellulite is one of the biggest problems women face as they age and one of the hardest to get rid of once it appears. It is easily identified as a bumpy “cottage cheese” look under the skin and is in fact made of fat cells and toxins that are unable to drain from the body. One of the most common techniques for getting rid of unsightly cellulite is a professional massage designed to get the circulation flowing in the constricted areas where cellulite has formed.
A massage is one of the most effective and popular types of cellulite treatment simply because of its immediate results. Remember that there is no magic bullet to a cellulite cure; however when used in conjunction with proper diet and exercise, cellulite can be controlled. Often times when administering a cellulite massage, the masseuse will use a special cream with nutrients aimed at breaking down the unsightly clumps. These creams are usually available on the market and can be very effective when simply used at home.
It is not necessary, however, to use special creams when administering a cellulite massage and in fact any lotion that hydrates the skin will do. The technique is really rather simple: rub in a circular motion around the afflicted areas concentrating specifically on individual bumps for about five to fifteen minutes per area. Be sure to drink plenty of water before receiving or giving yourself a cellulite massage, as this will help to additionally increase circulation and drain the toxins that have accumulated under the skin.
Often times, women will go one step further in their cellulite treatment and purchase some sort of roller, finger massage, or other electric massage device. This can often have an increased effect on the cellulite as well as just feeling better on the skin than a vigorous hand rub. Of course, having someone else do the job is better than doing it yourself because they can see the problem areas better and act accordingly.
